Catia Platform
Swedish vehicle parts specialist Setrab implements Dassault Systèmes´ CATIA solution to drive efficient collaboration and enhance product development.
STOCKHOLM – March 3, 2016. Setrab, a Swedish supplier of customised heat exchangers and aluminium radiators in small and medium quantities for OEM manufacturer and vehicle makers worldwide, has moved to the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. In order to achieve the company’s vision to expand its offering and support its growth strategy, Setrab has replaced its legacy software with Dassault Systèmes´ product design, engineering and systems engineering solution CATIA.
Founded in 1968 as a trading company, Setrab has supplied parts to the auto market for more than 40 years, with a current customer base including luxury and sports car brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley. Setrab’s business model involves a large degree of model-specific customisation in limited production batches, making a flexible, streamlined design process essential for remaining competitive. All product development, including physical and digital prototyping, is based in Sweden, while the production facilities are located in Poland.
As a niche player in a segment of several global suppliers, maintaining a customer relationship built on close-knit collaborative design, with strenuous demands on productivity and quality, is a key feature which Dassault Systèmes helps Setrab to strengthen and advance.
Setrab realised that relevant synergies in early design stage can be achieved by aligning its software with the one used by its customers; in consequence, the increased design model complexity is managed more efficiently than before which complies the desire to shorten product life cycles and time to market. That way, Setrab expects to reduce development time for new and state-of-the-art products forging ahead in the OEM and vehicle manufacturer market.
The migration to CATIA was completed in January 2016 and has been accompanied by Swedish technical consultancy Semcon, a long-standing associate of Dassault Systèmes.
“This move definitely enables us to leverage our customers’ capabilities while guaranteeing the highest standards of quality and sustainability. CATIA being the preferred customer solution, we are facilitating and optimizing the model and design communication between all stakeholders, so that hours-long tasks can now be accomplished within a couple of minutes”, said Fredrik SERGER, CEO of Setrab. “We are starting to expand our product offering in order to be a more complete system supplier – which supports our ambition to double our turnover in the next five to six years.”
“Setrab is positive proof that innovation is not limited to large-scale businesses, and we are proud to add Setrab to our list of 3DEXPERIENCE Platform users contributing to their future success”, said Stephen CHADWICK, EuroNorth Managing Director, Dassault Systèmes.
